Thematic Area 6: Communication

TA 6: Communication of individualized dietary recommendations and healthy food choices

How to communicate evidence-based dietary recommendations?

The study results from TA1TA2, TA3, TA4 und TA5 will be summarized and disseminated by various means of communication to the different target groups. Study results will be integrated in the evidence-based dietary recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (DGE).

Communication of cluster results to the public

The aim is to inform the public about the results of DietBB on how to prevent neurodegenerative diseases by tailoring communication to the various target groups. Study results of the DietBB cluster will be identified and published through press releases, press articles, information materials, online publications, education courses, and events organized by the cluster. New ways of communication will be developed. By establishing a communication network a continuous information flow will be ensured. Target groups are the scientific community, health professionals, multipliers and stakeholders in the field of nutrition and health as well as journalists and consumers.

Communication of dietary recommendations

Through a literature review an overview of existing international food-based dietary guidelines (FBDG) will be given, including their graphic visualization, communication and evaluation. In a representative market research study the public awareness of the German FBDG will be evaluated. This will be followed by qualitative interviews to determine which of the FBDG are implemented and to identify motives and obstacles. To ensure a high level of expertise, the main stakeholders, e.g. health professionals, physicians and other multipliers, representatives of the food industries, food technologists, sociologists, motivational psychologists, and politicians will be invited to workshops. Based on the market research data, a segmentation of target groups for communication will be conducted. Furthermore, innovative communication strategies and tools will be developed.
