Competence cluster Diet-Body-Brain: a partner at interactive exhibition in Bonn

May 23, 2016

The competence cluster Diet-Body-Brain (DietBB) is a local partner in the interactive exhibition ‘Beyond the Lab: The DIY Science Revolution’.

The exhibition takes place from 7th July to 28th August 2016 in the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn. It will be accompanied by seven events which provide an opportunity for interested persons and experts to discuss the topic of technology shifts in health and medicine.

Innovations and scientific research no longer only take place at the university but also are coming up from the society for example engaged persons. A close collaboration between citizens and research is getting more important to accept the challenge in medicine and health.

The aim of the exhibition is therefore to encourage this collaboration focussing on the technical and social shifts in health and medicine. It is the key component in the European project SPARKS. Sparks led by Ecsite (the European network of science centres and museums) will be carried out till the beginning of 2018 by a network of partners in 29 countries. In Germany main partner is the Science Shop Bonn (WILA Bonn, Wissenschaftsladen Bonn e. V.). SPARKS is a project that engages European citizens in the process of innovation and research by illustrating international research projects. As a local-based project the competence cluster DietBB will be presented.

Participation – chance for local actors in healthcare

Interactive events, at which DietBB takes part, will be held to communicate more effectively the topic. Suitable to the exhibition ‘Eva’s Beauty Case’ at the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn interested citizens have the opportunity to talk with scientists on the topic at a science café “Beautyful 2.0” on the 9th of June 2016. At six, so-called “Science Esspressos” they are invited to ask questions and discuss them with experts for half an hour. The exhibition and the events are for free.
