May 03, 2016

The choice of what we eat does not exclusively depend on reasonable decision making but is, to a large extend, influenced by biological, social and psychological factors. Our next expert's conversation on the subject "Why do we eat what we eat: Food choice - a complex behaviour" takes place at the Deutsche Welle Bonn on the 3rd of May 2016, 13:30 pm.

As an example, the situation in which nutritional decisions are made and the way nutrients are presented may impact on our decisions. Furthermore, packaging of food may affect our choices. New scientific approaches intend to better understand the complex interplay of factors finally involved. Will brain research finally lead to a better understanding?

Changes in eating habits

Life is changing rapidly and so are our eating habits. People are eating more often outside home and there is less time to prepare food from fresh products. Especially young consumers expect food to also increase their quality of life. For the food industry the challenge remains how to adapt with fast changing trends and the changing individual expectations in the context of nutrition.

Our next expert's conversation on the subject "Why do we eat what we eat: Food choice - a complex behaviour" takes place in addition on the 3rd of May 2016, 13:30 pm.
