Abstract: It has been suggested that diet could play an important role in the prevention of neurodegenerative disorders including cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are available that summarize findings from several primary studies on diet and neurodegenerative diseases. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are important research designs and are the fundament of evidence-based medicine. However, for the decision-making processes regarding the prevention of diseases, the quality of evidence of associations needs to be evaluated. More recently, umbrella reviews summarizing evidence from multiple meta-analyses on a specific topic became of interest. Thus, the talk will provide an overview on the conduct and results of an umbrella review summarizing all systematic reviews and meta-analyses of the associations between dietary factors and neurodegenerative disorders.
