DietBB Seminar Series: "Mechanism to Intervention in Nutrition and Dementia"

March 13, 2017

Our next DietBB Seminar Series Talk with Dr. Gene Bowman, Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences SA, Switzerland, take place on the 13th March 2017.

"Mechanism to Intervention in Nutrition and Dementia"

"The brain has a remarkable capacity to meet its nutritional needs, including glucose and micronutrients, lipids and amino acids. Carrier and barrier transport mechanisms help sustain and adapt to a constant demand for ascorbic acid, folate and omega 3 fatty acid DHA. One hypothesis is that blood-brain barrier breakdown in aging disturbs carrier and barrier mechanisms involved in the maintenance of an ideal nutritional condition in the CNS. A high-level review of the “vascular components” of cognitive decline and dementia will take a turn toward original research on BBB function and mild cognitive impairment, inflammation and targeted nutritional interventions for cognitive health"

Invited by Prof. Dr. Michael Wagner, DZNE

Time and location of the seminar: March 13, 2017, 5.00-5.45 pm Auditorium XVII, Nußallee 17, Bonn-Poppelsdorf.
