Prof. Dr. med. Joachim L. Schultze University of Bonn Life & Medical Sciences Institute (LIMES) - Genomics & Immunoregulation - will talk about
“Blood cells, genomics and diet: A new dimension?”
Abstract: There is increasing evidence that long-term exposure to Western style diet can lead to chronic inflammatory responses orchestrated by immune cells for example in adipose tissue. Immune cells are also a major component of peripheral blood and travel via the blood between different organs. Studies applying genomics technologies to whole blood have clearly indicated that many deviations from homeostasis including inflammations result in changes in the transcriptomes of whole blood samples. With advances in genomics technologies even towards the single cell level completely new possibilities to assess the immune systems deviation in context of dietary changes can be envisioned. He will introduce and discuss some of these new opportunities that his working group also plan to apply within DietBB.
Date & Time: Monday, January 7th 2019, 5.00-5.45 pm
Location: Seminarroom U1.024, Endenicher Allee 19b, Bonn-Poppelsdorf MAP
The talk will be followed by an informal Get-together.
